Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
DD2 visiting today, she will go back on the 2pm bus, so when she has gone we will nip to the garden centre, OH wants garlic bulbs to plant.
Big load in the washer will need hanging out, we were forecast high winds, no sign of them yet, sun is out but not a lot of warmth in it so far, fingers crossed the laundry dries.
Yesterday I had a big clear out in the two shelved cupboards in my sewing room, put curtains that we can no longer use in a bag fro the charity shop, there are also several sets of loose thermal linings too.
I need to make a pot of soup for lunch, it will alst 2 days, so need not bother my brain about lunch tomorrow. I have to do my shopping list for Aldi, we will be going to Bingham tomorrow with library books so will call at Aldi and do the shop for next month. Hoping I do not need a lot.
We have lit the fire most evening recently, OH says we still have at least 1 bag of coal left in the coal shed, so hoping I will not need to buy anymore till the end of October. Even though we have the central heating in I will still light a fire in the evening. The thermostatic vlaves will turn the sitting room rad off.
Right, time to stir my stumps and get on.0 -
I'm off to the dentist for a check up this morning, hopefully no work to be done, I am much happier with both the feeling and appearance of my mouth since I started having my metal fillings replaced with white ones. Just 3 to go now but they will wait till I've got the money next year. I also need a prescription for my toothpaste (yet another of my stupid allergies - toothpaste).
DH was feeling much better yesterday and wanted to go for a 5 mile walk. I put my foot down and he said we could walk round to the town which is about a mile and a half - that was plenty. He's still in bed.
I finished the baby quilt yesterday and started the top for another. I want to call in at DS' and pick up their washing, take the old cd racks to the tip. I would have got rid of the cd's but DH objected so I've bought some plastic storage boxes for them to go in the loft.
DH has just appeared so I'd better go.0 -
Morning chums,
How are we all?
Grey clouds over Glasgow today but dry with little wind. That'll change no doubt.
Yesterday was a good day. Work was almost fun in that it was semi-successful sales wise yet laid back with my colleagues. I managed to go to the gym then meet my friend at Tesco while we decided on tacos for dinner - delish.
Today will be work followed by the gym and hopefully finishing off my Kondo'ing. I've to phone after 5pm to see if I'm selected for Jury Duty. I feel indifferent as to wither I'm selected or not. I could be doing with the time spent in work however I am interested in that sort of thing.
Gers - Safe travels to Paisley. Is there a ferry that runs across?
redruby - Enjoy the log burner! I too am a huge fan, almost looking forward to winter so I can start using ours.
LWW - Thinking of you, your DH and his DF just now.
Jackie - I do love a healthy debate. Enjoy!0 -
Lovely bright sunny day, I have got them all to strip their beds and one lot of sheets is on the line and another in the wash.
Got a parcel and letter to post and go and put my prescription in.
Might see what Asda has on offer, but I don't get much from them these days TBH, I much prefer Aldi and the local market, local butcher, greengrocer and a couple of farms around here. Much better to put money into the pockets of small businesses than big business rip off merchants.
Sorry to hear you are poorly Hester, could it have been triggered by the stress of yesterday? I hope you feel better soon (((Hugs))) xx
Ruby, enjoy your log burner xx
Which reminds me to book my man to come and sweep the chimney

Next time it happens AoD try going back on your browser. 9 times out of 10 it works for me.
Morning all,
Lovely and sunny here. A good day to do a spot of weeding in the garden. Youngest, still at home will be doing the lawns. He's paying reduced board whilst he is off work so he's paying his way by doing stuff in the house to take the burden off his Dad.

Morning Lovely People!
Wobbly hugs and positive vibes to those who need them - love and light to those in a dark place - keep on going, sweet.
Feeling as grotty as the weather here, after tests last night. OH is joining me on the bench of Everything Is Normal Except It Isn't - as he has been discharged from his specialist. So frustrating. Never mind - onwards and upwards.
Planning on cooking today but will see if this headache/earache subsides grrr.
Need to go out in the drizzle to get some cash for the bills I need to pay this week (window cleaner/milkman). I normally use my change stash - but we needed it for hospital parking and I shoved the remainder in the parking money pot in the car. Need to retrieve that later! The fresh air might do me some good.
Wondering whether to get the bread machine out (we use it more in winter to make dunking bread for stew/soups). I need to just use the dough programme to make dough for rolls as we waste some HM (particularly the hole in the middle bit lol). I have a small counter-top halogen oven - so baking them in it wouldn't be as expensive as firing up the big oven. Need to get my thinking cap on and decide what to do. Wondering if making soda bread might be better.
Hope you all have a good day and that you feel better as it goes on (if you're feeling a bit blah) xxxxx2022 | Back to the fold - need a Money Saving mojo reboot!

It looks as if it is going to be a nice day and I have some laundry ready to go outside on the line. Someone was supposed to come to quote for living room and bedroom blinds around two today but I got a phone call early this morning asking if they could come between ten and eleven instead.
I could not go to collect my prescription or shop this morning as I had planned and am still waiting for the person to come and quote  Eventually I will be able to hang out the washing and go shopping, probably this afternoon. DD comes tonight to drive me to weigh in and will take a spare mattress topper with her when she is here.
A base for chicken lasagne was cooked last night and is in the fridge ready to be assembled later and I have stir fry veg for myself tonight.
Feel as if I have wasted all morning looking out for appointment and can't really get anything done so a bit fed up.
Hester
I hope you feel better soon. All the stress cannot be doing you any good and I hope things improve.
Hugs to all."This site is addictive!"

Excellent class this morning at sociology, then came home and DD popped in to say she would pick me up for a treat with the boys at 'Creamers' at the Chatham Dockside (ice cream shop apparently) so I had a nice healthy ham salad for lunch
and then made a large vat of leek and tattie soup for the rest of the weeks lunches etc .
We went to Creamers and I ate a huge mint choc sundae, and now shan't eat anything else as I am completely stuffed:):).
Nipped into the Savacentre (big shopping centre) where she treated me to a lovely hounds tooth check jacket for the winter, bless her she is a good lass. She had a good bonus from work and she likes to share it with the family. As I have lost weight over the summer I had got rid of most of my jackets so really needed one for the winter.
So all in all a very good day today
feet now, and some knitting and catch-up tv tonight I think
Cheers chums

Evening all,
Been a lovely day here, knitting this morning, then after lunch took a trip down one of the fields and picked half a kg blackberries, lots more to ripen here.....added half kg of apples and made some blackberry and apple jam....DS3s favourite, so he will be a happy bunny.....may not see him until next week as he is back at college.
Ruby.....good luck with your stove......wehad to leave ours for a few days after installation before we could light it, so hope that you havent been disappointed.
Hester...I could weep for you, you have made such efforts to keep your head above water it is so unfair that you will to downsize to such an extent......I am sure that you have looked at having a lodger again, not sure if it would help?
Jackie.....you have such an active life! I have been thinking of joining the local U3A, but havent got any further than thinking.
Slowly 57....soda bread is certainly the easiest bread I have ever made.....whether white or brown, my DIL makes it in her steam oven ( not sure if it has any other use !)and it is even nicer than if cooked in ordinary oven.
DS1 is watching soccer at present (cant abide it) so will haveto find somet3hing else to amuse me until its over and we can watch GBBO which is recording at present.
Hugs to all who could use one or more, have a pleasant evening
