Samsung Fridge/Freezer temp display wrong

Hey all,

So This is weird, I took ownership of my mum's fridge freezer which has been faultless despite what I have read online lol, and yet in between transferring it from her house to mine, it seems to have developed a fault.

Once in place, I let it stand for 27 hours so am sure no damage has been caused, however upon turning it on, a ticking noise was to be heard. Obviously I wasn't happy so turned it off and after several searches coming back with nothing and everything, I thought I would turn it back on and let it run for a little longer.

Anyway after 5 minutes the ticking noise stopped and hasn't returned. I presume this may have been linked to the water/ice cube section which hasn't been connected yet. At least that is all I can think of but that isn't the fault.

The fault is with the display panel and it showing a fridge temp of 20c 24 hours after turning it on. Clearly it is not 20c as I placed a bowl of water in shortly after turning it on and it has started to freeze (not surprising as I set the temps to their coldest settings for the initial power up so fridge was set at 1c).

So I'm slightly lost as to where the panel is getting 20c from? It goes up and down a degree so it's taking a reading from somewhere, but where lol? Any help will be gratefully received.

I don't know Samsung but the obvious first question is are you reading the right temperature? I ask because my LG shows the actual room temperature and the set temperatures for the fridge & freezer.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.
  • Yep, it read 4c at mums

  • Came home tonight to find RCB has tripped out in the house, Fridge freezer to blame :( It's annoying because apart from the temp display above being incorrect, it has been fine.

Our Samsung FF started playing up turning itself off.
    (different to yours)

Engineer tested everything and even tried changing main board gave up and went home no charge.

Turned out is was an intermittent display board fault(I got the wiring diagrams off the web )

got the temps settings right disconnected that board works fine just can't use the buttons or readouts.

Picture shows freezer at minus 20 and fridge plus 4. Ours is set to minus 19 freezer and fridge plus 4. Plus 1 for the fridge is too cold as the veg in the veg drawer freezes. Ours is the Samsung American style fridge freezer with the water/ice dispenser and about 10 years old.
  • So after some more testing I have found the fridge is too cold. A portable thermometer confirms this despite the readout showing 7c. The fridge is sitting between -1c>-5c and as a result, the water tank is frozen solid.

I have increased the temperature on the display to 7c and I've offset the temperature to it's highest setting, being 1 displaying on the freezer screen to denote fridge, and 15 on the fridge screen to denote the difference of +4c. The display screen shows 7c for the temperature but flashes every now and again, not sure if this means anything? The freezer side still works as expected as does the icemaker. Any ideas?

Think I'd be contacting competent refrigeration engineer as whatever posts you get here is just guess work.
