Can I burn a disc from catchup video?

Options
Is it possible to burn a disc on my Macbook Air from a catchup video that I play on the laptop?

I know how to burn a disc when I have the whole file on my computer, but am not sure if this is possible if I play a video via catchup.

Not for personal use, I don't think. Although, if copyright terms are breached, you could be sued in a civil claim for damages.

You'd need to download the video first to get the file itself. That's likely to be the difficult part, especially if the provider uses DRM or proprietary streaming standards.

How would this be different from recording it from the TV transmission?

It's very much not the way streaming is meant to work, but depending where it's from, it'll be possible. I've managed it from YouTube and iPlayer (well, the saving part, the burning to disc part is a second, easier stage), but there's definitely plenty of faff to it.
Catch- up is often available for a month. When you record from a TV transmission, you're only actually allowed to keep the recording for 2 weeks apparently, so you're right, it's not that different!
