Apologies for misquoting, Helena, and thank you for the correction. At least I now know I did not dream up your DD manager.

    :DNo it's real.

No worries, thanks for mentioning it.

Thanks all . It's only a month or so ago that a dd payment was readjusted . They wanted it down as low as 75 but were persusded to put it up to 110. But based on a meter reading prior to the main bill they want it dropping again . Yes we could save the money ourselves for whatever measly interest we can get on it , but it's really beside the point .
We agreed a monthly based on an annual estimate , so why stuff that in the bin before the real time of year kicks in !

I often use chat , when it's active ! So a transcript is available from that . Otherwise its a textphone that automatically saves the relay transcript , so I have some bases covered . They don't seem to answer emails very quickly though ! Plus their drop-down of issues is vrry basic and rarely covers a specific enquiry !

I have never seen an SSE rep on here yet, myself, does not mean they don't exist, of course... a BG one materialised today, even nPower have one. Tsk, tsk, SSE, get with the programme!

I wonder why their chat is not always active, altocumulus; nPower's is, except on a Sunday.

So back to altocumulus' original complaint, which was about SSE. I had exactly the same experience with SSE, but the other way around. I switched in November and a few months later they increased my monthly payments. When I complained along the same lines as altocumulus I got a reply saying that it was because my energy usage had gone up. Pointing out that obviously it would be higher than the average I had predicted (based on actual energy usage in the previous year) because it was winter didn't get me anywhere, so I gave up. Surprise, surprise, when it got to summer and my monthly energy usage went down, so did my monthly bills. The moral of the story seems to be that whatever they may say about about smoothing out your bills over the course of the year, their computers are programmed to increase or decrease them in a reactive way based on your current usage.
