G24 Parking fine

I have received a parking notice from G24 for overstaying in a car park for 30 minutes, I have since been back to the car park and noticed the signs saying maximum stay 3 hours. This car park covers many shops so staying to long is easily done.

I read a lot of information online and decided to ignore the letters. I received this notice in April 2016 for £60 and last week September 2016 I received my second letter from a debt collection agency stating that this was the last chance to arrange payment / payment plan for the now £160 fine before they send it back to G24 recommending court action…

So now I am in a bit of a pickle and have started to worry about going to Court.

What is my best course of action from this point? Should I be worried?

I never had a ticket on my windscreen, just through the post
Sam

Same advice as here; we assume you have read some threads just a few posts below yours:

No worries about court, going by G24's record to date (zero). We also assume all newbie posters have read 'NEWBIES PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST' which covers 'ignoring the debt collector' stage. Nothing else needed except complaints to the retailers of course.

  • thank you for your advice, do I need to take any thing i.e. letters from G24 / debt collectors to the retail store? or write them a letter?
  • g24 have not gone to court yet, its all threats.

You must not ignore though always write back.
  • When I write back even at this stage, do I appeal stating they was not at a loss of income with me staying there over the time limit? I have read once you acknowledge the "fine" you become liable...

Nope, 'no loss' does not work as an argument now, after the ParkingEye v Beavis case which was also about a retail park overstay and the Supreme Court Judges in their infinite wisdom, decided a whacking charge was 'commercially justified' and the age-old argument about 'no loss caused' went out the window. If 'no genuine pre-estimate of loss' was worth saying, it would be in the template appeal in the NEWBIES thread!

No you haven't - not on any sensible website anyway!
