Tube costs

Options
Hi,

Kind of a "day out"!

I'm going to London with work, I have extremely minimal time to grab a ticket / get lost (I've only ever been to London once.....)

With regards to paying for the tube, is this possible in advance?

I need to go on the Northern line and DLR

Thanks in advance

If you have a contactless payment card your best bet is to just use that then you won't have to worry about zones as it will do it all for you automatically as long as you tap in and out on the barriers

Failing that and depending on how long you have before you go you could order an Oyster card and top that before you go just remember if you top up online this takes 24 hours to load on to the card

Use a contactless card. Super quick and you get the same sort of prices as for Oyster cards.
  • Unfortunately I cant use a contactless card as I need receipts to claim back :(

I looked at an oyster but it wont get here in time - I think I'm travelling in the same "zone" (I'm checking) - Is it possible to buy and print own tickets at all?

    Thanks

Are you travelling by train to London for the day? If so, you can probably buy a rail ticket including a London travel card. It might not be the cheapest option but it would give you the receipt you need for work.
  • I need to check they will accept bank statements. Yes travelling for the day but tickets already been bought
  • If you're going to pay by contactless card, log in to https://contactless.tfl.gov.uk/ and register your card details. Your TFL account will show the details of journeys that have been paid by contactless card, which you can use when you claim your expenses from your employer.
