Ok so pc working ok last night.
This morning I can't boot up.
Monitor has black screen with nothing on it.
Checked monitor and it is ok.
Can't boot to bios
Can't boot rescue disk
Pc and power supply fans are working.
Have removed USB devices, extra drives, graphics card still no boot.
Removed cmos battery and replaced still no boot
So am I right it's either psu , mobo or ram or does anyone have any other ideas.
Next step is to try out ram, and to try an old psu.
This is beginning to feel expensive!

Maybe a clue in monitor had black screen.
How then do you know there is no boot? Do you have other info to tell you?
It might be that the monitor is working but no video output from PC. Is it built in video or a separate card?0 -
Well you've pretty much covered most bases, prime candidate is the PSU however do check all internal connections as well just in case however you've probably checked them anyway. If not PSU then most likely a mobo fault. This is assuming you have checked the graphics card.
Make and model of PC? Not all PSU's are standard, for example HP elites use a propriety setup that requires re-jigging of a standard PSU.
Edit,
Just to confirm we are talking desktop here ?Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
And any beeps, or is it not getting to POST?0

Try and rule out any fault with the monitor or video card. Are you sure the PC doesn't boot, or can you just not see anything on-screen?
Otherwise, as you say, I'd guess it'd be most likely to be a problem with the PSU or motherboard.0 -
Have you tried removing the ram to see if you get a beep code or any response from the system?0
