Pyrex Explosion

  • Don’t know if this old thread is still monitored but my husband and I were having dinner last night and our Pyrex bowl that had held coleslaw earlier exploded across our room, there was no thermal change and it was sitting on a table, we were not injured  and I don’t know if it can be reported as we don’t have a receipt even though the bowl was fairly new. This is potentially dangerous as the explosion was like gunfire and it took us a while to realise what had happened as the glass was all over the floor.

This once happened to me and thankfully no-one was hurt. I've never bought Pyrex products since. You should write to Pyrex though to let them know because you could have been hurt.

Have been using some of my pyrex since 1981 and have picked up "vintage" pieces over the years.   Never had an explosion.

Now Corelle?   That stuff is lethal
  • I had a pyrex jug that shattered a couple of years ago, it was brand new, they are not as good as they once were
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
