Wish to close two gmail accounts an open new

My daughter has two rarely used email accounts with different passwords and photos in each. She wants to close both accounts, but make sure the photos are saved. I have suggested that she opens a new gmail account and creates a password that is not used elsewhere, but memorable. Then to see if she can sync all photos from the two outgoing accounts, then see if there is a route to closing them.

Is this a correct procedure? Are you able to close gmail accounts ?

She can download the photos (presumably they're attachments in emails) to her PC. Or do you mean they're in Google Drive or another Google App rather than Gmail?

She can use IMAPSIZE to open all Gmail accounts simultaneously and drag and drop messages (with attachments) between them. This does involve dowloading everything to her PC and uploading them again, so will not be a quick process especially if she has slow ADSL.

To close a Google account, go to Account (at the top right of Gmail) - Settings - Account preferences - delete account or services.

Just use Google Takeout to download all your data, including email, from the existing 2 accounts, which you can then use to import elsewhere including another Google account or just keep as an archive.

You can then proceed to delete the 2 existing accounts.

The full story is this. They currently live in Cyprus and to be honest I don't know what their internet speed is. However they are coming to me in less than a fortnight, so we should now be in a better position to carry out her wishes. Malmo, your tip looks great. Tomorrow I will investigate more. Just catching up on iPad in bed.

Between us, we have needed to source a new( reconditioned) laptop which was delivered to me for their collection next week also.

I had to do something similar when changing ISPs.
I installed Thunderbird, linked up my ISP email address and my GMAIL address to Thunderbird and then did a drag-and-drop exercise between the two.

It took a while (around 5 years worth or emails) but I didn't have to download them all to my PC (as far as I know) as I'd got both addresses set up with IMAP.
