Flickering bulb

We have two outdoor lanterns either side of the garage. Both look the same though there are subtle differences between the two. The left side's bulb has been flickering for a few months. It appears to vary in intensity rather than completely on/off flickering but quite rapid nontheless. The right hand unit has been fine.

Figured it was a bulb issue. I've changed them both the LED ones. The right one was fine but the left one flashed on/off v fast. Realised the left one was a non-dimmable bulb whilst the right one was dimmable. Just replaced the left bulb with a dimmable version and it still flickers just like the original incandescent bulb.

Any ideas why?
