Hi, hope someone can advise on this.
My partner is on long term sick leave. Following a stay in hospital and several attempts to get back to work, he has now gone on long term sick leave, on medical advice. He has been off sick since 8th Jan 2007. He has payment protection on the mortgage and on his credit cards. All paid out immediately and without question on the basis of information given by his GP. They are all sort term - 6 months and in the case of the mortgage, one year.
Scottish Widows should have started paying out after 3 months. Atm it would only be the difference between the full payout and the other payments as they are deducted first, so the payout would be fairly low. But there is also a waiver of premiums once the claim is admitted, which are £100+ a month and causing financial difficulties.
He has complied with every request for information from his doctor, and his accountant. Each time he complies, they wait a month and then send another request for info, and so it goes on. The most recent event was that they sent him to see their own consultant on 21st August, who said that he would be sending a report to SW supporting my partner's claim.
More silence. He has chased them again and they are now saying that they hope to be back in touch with him before 4th October. That is 9 months after he first made the claim and 6 months after they should have started paying out. The mortgage protection payments end in November, and without payment from SW he will be stuffed.
Please can anyone suggest a way forward?
Many thanks
