Hi all
So I was reversing into a bay today and lightly tapped the car behind me didn't think I was that close and he was way over the line, anyway so they owner got out of his car to asses the damage and there was none to either car, I asked if he wanted my details he said 'nah don't worry about it I think you just touched the wheel (it's a shogun type car with a wheel on the boot) now I'm worried that he's going to make a claim for damage that's not their.
Help!!

Well most likely he won't by the sound of it so don't worry about something that probably won't happen.0

I know but it's easier said than done I worry like hell about everything, I had my partner in the car whilst I went and done what I needed to do and as far as she knows the driver got out, spoke to me then got back in his car, could he report me and have my insurance and am I liable because I haven't reported it?0

If he said there was no damage and he wasn't making a claim then that's all you need to know and be concerned about. If your insurer ever contacts you then just reiterate that; he said no claim, so there was nothing to report.0

Thanks but aren't I liable to tell my insurer anyway? Would my partner being in the car help at all as she pretty much heard he conversation? It's just I've heard horror stories of people being involved in an accident the other party saying not to worry and then the driver getting a hefty fine for not reporting it0

I understand the worry but its easy to forget there are actually more reasonable people than unreasonable ones as we only tend to hear about the latter.
He's probably just perfectly reasonable too ! No damage, no big deal
Try and relax
No damage, no injury, no claim, no complaint - nothing to report. You can always ring your insurer if it makes you feel better0 -
As I said I'm probably worrying over nothing I doubt he's got my licence plat as I was too close to his back end to see it he would need to have gone round the front and according to my partner he didn't so hopefully he's reasonable I just think if it was my on the other end I wouldn't do anything even if it was major damage but we will see thanks guys0

What is there to tell? No damage to either car. Save yourself the cost of the phone call and possible 'incident' increase in premium.0 -

But you weren't involved in an accident.
You weren't even involved in an incident.
If you want to worry about things that weren't incidents, then worry about all the cars you haven't been within 10 miles of but whose owners might conceivably lie and say you had reversed into them. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
