Hi,
I'm hoping someone can give me some simple advice on how I could transfer all my pictures/word documents from my MacBook onto a new Windows laptop please?
My MacBook has given up. It's running so slow and I just don't get along with it. I want to buy a nice simple Windows laptop to use.
I literally use it for working from home, writing letters and saving my pictures - that's it.
I just don't know how I can transfer all my documents/pictures over to my new laptop.
I've google but I can't seem to find a simple article that speak plan English. I'm really not that techie.
I have taken it to be repaired, updated etc but it's still not working that well.
Any help would be great - thanks.

Ref photo's. i would suggest you consider installing https://photos.google.com/ on all of your devices whether they be windows or ios you will create a password then have the option to use it, ( I don't, I leave it open at all times).
A scenario is that using my iphone, I take a photo and somehow it sends itself to google photos and is view-able on either my ipad or laptop (W10) within no time at all. Further to that, the photo's are not on the hard drive, they are stored "in the cloud". Do I understand it ?, no, but at least it works and seems to me would solve that problem.
Now, onto your documents. although I have yet to use it, there is https://www.google.com/docs/about/ something that appears to work the same. Let us know how you get on.
PS, I have just re-read your post. Oddly enough I have been through a similar situation recently. My old laptop ran vista so that shows how old it was, but it worked ok. But the lid hinge crumbled and prevented me from closing. I like you just wanted something for surfing at home, no games, downloading of films etc, just normal time wasting? stuff that keeps my mind active. With only Argos and PC World in town, reluctantly entered the latter. My aim was a similar size screen, that's all. After much to'ing and fro'ing, came down on the side of a HP Envy with Bang & Olufsen sound. It has W10 and the main browser is Echo. But within the system is Internet Explorer. Because there was too much for me to get my head round, I installed Chrome browser, an operating system I like. The verdict, so far so good. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

That's exactly what I needed - thank you!! I will set about installing those tonight. It's much better having it saved in the cloud. Do you have to pay for storage at all?
Thanks again!!0 -

No, it is all free. I think they have a charge if you go over the top though, but I have thousands of pics there. Suppose I should add just in case you don't know, both google photos and docs, can be set up on any combination of systems you just use the same password. Within each, I think you have to check/uncheck something along the lines of "view-able only to me", but not entirely certain. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
