RyanAir

My daughter and her friend booked a weekend away using RyanAir.
They were due to leave on the Friday night and fly back on the Sunday. They booked the flights and then realised they could not go on the planned dates. They then rebooked the flights for the following week, paying the cancellation fee etc.
When they got to the airport to come back they discovered that one of the tickets (my daughter's) was for the Saturday before they came back so they were unable to board the plane. They had gone through two sets of security checks, showing tickets on both occasions.
She then had to wait until the following day to fly home, at a cost of £250.
Her friend booked and changed the tickets, and I do not think she would have booked one on one day and the other on the following day, so clearly Ryan Air have misbooked.
She thinks that because Ryan Air appeared to have made a mistake they will refund her the cost of the ticket.
I think that Ryan Air will say that they should have checked the tickets before printing them off and definitely before travelling.
I am wondering if anyone else has had this, and how it was resolved.
