Hi All,
I started this little hobby in mid August. I had to leave my full time job unexpectantly to become a carer to my daughter and am now at home everyday. i was finding this really difficult and this site has been a welcome distraction to the way my life has suddenly become.
Ive had some fab prizes already and really feel i want to add competitions to the site to return the kindness of the people who put them on for others.
As a new poster i make mistakes,
sometimes i miss the fine details, sometimes the source of the competition has incorrect start dates, sometimes my link address is too long, sometimes even though i use the search function i duplicate- i apologise for this.
(and yes as i was privately messaged i HAVE read the guidance on posting )
However i am new and i sacrificed Poldark to scour the internet for competitions so cut the newbies abit of slack please, i am increasingly becoming more reluctant to share competitions which is a shame because i want to give something back to this lovely community.

You shouldn't feel like that at all, we were all new once and we have all made mistakes along the way.0

Take no notice of anyone who thinks they have the right to be telling you what to do. Just do your best when posting comps that is all anyone should expect. We all make mistakes even the long term posters don't always get things right. It is better for a comp to be posted on the board and others spotting a problem with it than it is for you to find a comp and not post it and everyone missing out on the chance.0 -
Thanks for posting Annieg123 and keep at it. A comp with a few mistakes in the way you've posted it is better than no comp at all. And honestly, don't worry about making mistakes. So what if you make one. And don't give up Poldark in favour of comp hunting. You can give up Jeremy Kyle though :rotfl:UEFA: Corrupting Football Since 1954 #CTID0

Nooooooo, never sacrifice Poldark!
Seriously, don't be put off if someone isn't perhaps as polite as they should be when helping you find your way around the forum.

sometimes my link address is too long
It doesn't matter how long a link is unless it is a referral/unique identifier which benefits someone else every time the link is used. If competitions are found on the sites that are running them it's not usually an issue.
If say WH Smith are running a competition but you find the competition on FabComps the link you follow to get to WH Smith will usually be a tracking link to benefit FabComps.
Sometimes but not always the url will actually have "affilliate" in it.0 -
Annieg123 THANK YOU ❤️0

The person who messaged you (I have no idea who) may have wanted to save you some grief of having your posts bumped if they were in the wrong posting way to collate them on search properly.
No idea of the tone of their pms, but I think private messaging you is nicer than bumping your posts to point out the error as they might not know if you revisit what you post.
Take it with a pinch of salt, sounds like they were being helpful and discreet rather than saying it publicly which could have been embarrassing if took the wrong way.
Enjoy posting it's always nice to give something back.

Totally agree with OP, there are some right t**ts on here, if the E : / is not in the right place any one would think their world is going to end.............
Some folk need to get a real life.............
If they are not formatted correctly then they do not show in the correct order for people (not me) who use the "Sorted By" function.
Almost everything people need to know is in the section they are asked to read
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4896515NEW COMPERS PLEASE READ - Competition Board - useful link
which includes the "Comping Guide - Getting Started & Other FAQs" and covers the posting format

Annie raises a good point. And it's not just newbies who need to be cut a bit of slack. Some forumites need to learn that even if their life revolves around comping, not everyone elses does.0
