There is an app that I have heard of and tried recently called "Olio" where people look for gifted/ give away food and things, you can search for free or some have a value. It may be an idea to offer it out on there if you really can't stand it.0

I like to mix in a bit of rapeseed oil. I then add some chopped peppers and a vegetable stock cubeDFD 2020

I like to mix in chopped chilli, parsley and lemon juice, along with sauteed leftover chicken and mushrooms and a pinch of cumin for luck. If I'm feeling adventurous a poached egg on top also does the trick.LBM - 30/3/16 - Someone save me from myself!!

I am not over keen on it, I love the bird food reference that is too true I will never be able to eat it again without thinking of that :rotfl:
I make up with a stock cube and add any left over bits and bobs veg and meat if I have leftovers.
Then I stuff peppers with it (the tops of the peppers go into the mix), grate cheese over the top and stick in the oven until done.
Not my favorite dish but cheap, easy and quick.
I couldn't eat it cold.0 -
I'm married to an Algerian and have no choice but to cook with it. Not my favourite thing tbh, but when my MIL makes it, it can be pretty special. Hubby will not eat it any other way but the traditional Algerian way, so I can't even put it into salad. And I don't like it enough to put it into salad for me.
Also, for those of you who like the stuff, be grateful that in the UK you buy the quick stuff which just needs a quick soak or steam. DH very kindly brought a huge bag of not-quick-cook couscous and it takes for ever to prepare! You rinse it, then steam it. Then back into a big bowl, rub through to separate grains, drizzle a bit of extra water and rub through again, steam again. Repeat another few times.
Anyone bored yet? I can't wait till the whole lot is finished!!! At least in Algeria the gas is dirt cheap so they don't mind having a big steamer on for hours! Needless to say, I only make it when dh really, really wants it.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

I just don't really like it - its a bit too much like eating the bottom of a budgie cage :rotfl:
This simplest thing I do with the quick packet stuff, which makes it much more palatable, is to almost double the amount of water it tells you to use.
You then end with something much more moist and edible.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Does it taste any different? I think I would be sneaking packet or quick cook into the house and casually disposing of the other stuff gram for gram. Yes I know no one should deceive their OH but sometimes needs must :rotfl:0
