Declined life insurance

Options
Hello me and my girlfriend are looking to get a life insurance for a mortgage. However we took the advise from our adviser to be incredibly truthful about everything and we admitted to taking ecstasy once and we got declined due to this. We are now very worried we are unable to get life insurance and everything will fall through and we will be unable to buy for the next few years. Can anyone please give us advise in what to do next.

If the adviser is an IFA or a whole of market adviser (for protection) then they should be able to speak to the underwriters of various providers and find a provider that covers you.

Nothing will fall through. Your mortgage is not dependent on life assurance. It is a sensible thing to have but it is not mandatory.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.
  • Thankyou that eases my mind a little bit as when reading up on this the general concenus is that we will not get touched by any insurers
  • I think (from a vague memory a few years ago) either LV= or L&G accepted an application with some historic drug use.
It was a number of years prior to the application, something like 5 years prior, and that was a couple of years ago. The application was never completed though so I don't recall the insurer. Perhaps try one of them?

Fair play for being honest though! And as mentioned this isn't mandatory so it shouldn't effect you too badly.
