    I agree they are being over zealous but they are not driveways.

    Agreed, it is a problem with an overcrowded city and properties with no parking spaces let alone driveways

    Personally I support the council action, how can anyone, let alone a wheelchair user or someone with a pushchair, get past without having to walk on the actual road.

    Have to agree they were parking on a crossover (not driveway) in contravention of the yellow line.

    But if they had a reasonable expectation of not being ticketed (i.e. if the Council had never issued PCNs before and they'd all parked like that for years) then Adjudicators would probably not have supported the Council, hence why they've had to back down.

    Reading the article, it seems this was a recent yelow line, imposed (ostensibly, apart from the money aspect) to protect grass verges. So the Council needs to make it clear to residents from now on whether they are are or are not going to also get PCNs for parking on crossovers. It's even more confusing for residents now that the PCNs are to be cancelled as it's anyone's guess in a month's time if this is all going to start again. Or fast forward six months, a new CEO rocks up, and (rightly, given the line) issues PCNs again.

    A yellow line applies there now though. Surely one resident was clever enough to realise what that meant? Surely someone knows the Highway code?! Did no-one see this coming once the Council painted that yellow line?

    For those with garages why not park in them? it would reduce the cost of insurance for a start.
    and if the vehicles are too big, buy a smaller car

    I dunno, my car is waterproof, locks and is used every day. My lawnmower and spanner sets on the other hand...
