Hi,

Can anyone tell me if there is such a thing as an Armes Forces Pension calculator that people who have already left the service can use to estimate approximatley what level of pension they may be entitled to ?

Thanks Martin, I had already tried that. Unfortunately that calculator can only be used by serving personel.

The problem is that AFPS75 works on a "representative pay" for the rank and bears no resemblance to actual pay, a low pay grade gets the same pension as a high pay grade for the same rank and length of service. Glasgow should be able to give you a current value which can be projected forward using CPI.

I've sent a registered letter to Glasgow with all my details and am waiting to hear back from them.
As I understand the rules I will not be entitled to receive my pension until age 60, (I am now 57). So hopefully I will have it all sorted out by then.

I think you're entitled to one (free) forecast each year, they may be able to request that for you from a phone call.

Do you happen to know how long it normally takes for the Veterans UK people to respond to an annuity request ?

I think mine took a couple of weeks. Don't forget, when you get close to 60 you have to request your pension, it doesn't get paid automatically. And, being the MOD, of course it has to be on the correct form.
