Anyone had an online quote from Halifax home insurance recently?

Might be a strange question, but has anyone been able to get an actual quote for home insurance from the Halifax website recently?

I've tried a few times over the past week, and just end up with a message that tells me to ring for a quote.

My details are probably as bog-standard as they come, no claims etc so I'm confused why I can't obtain a quote.

...I'm just trying to get my 35% online discount!

  • i went through moneysupermaket.com on this website and got a good quote from halifax - no problems - not good enough though! confused.com saved me £100.00 for build and cont - and i shop around every year! 'Im in the money...' :T
  • This morning I helped one of my parents get a quote and purchase home insurance from the halifax website without any problems at all.
  • Thanks for your replies - much appreciated.

I think the 'back door' method via somewhere like confused might be the way to go!

No, not at present. Used to be with them around 10 years ago. Will see how I get on after work, otherwise will stick with my Nationwide policy.

I used the same method and they were 2nd cheapest with a very good £60 saving. Have a look at Barclays via Moneysupermarket they are giving £50.00 cashback until 17/10/07....
  • Thanks for all your advice...

I couldn't get a quote from Halifax no matter what method I tried!

After a few hours of shopping around, and then rechecking prices and cover manually I've narrowed it down to either the AA or Zurich.

Will read the policies again tomorrow when I'm more awake, and get it all sorted out!

    Thanks again. :cheesy:
  • if you telephone and explain the error, they might be able to honour the online discount
