So these things are not scams in the sense that your accounts are about to be raided but they are scams in the fact that there probably isnt any real competition. These exist to harvest contact details for mailshots, cold callers and spam email.

You may think thats a little pointless but your details are worth a tiny bit of money to these people. With the millions of other details from similar 'competitions' etc that adds up to a large amount of money. You are not in any direct danger from the information you have posted. You 'may' be in some danger from the multitude of crap you will be getting in the form of texts, phone calls, emails and post. Your details will be sold thousands of times to anyone with an interest in mass mailings. None of these people will have your best interests in mind.

Sure, this information can (for the most part) be obtained in other ways but thats a bit more labour intensive than just setting up a fake competition and waiting for all the suckers to put the details in themselves.
