TCP, hopefully you can solve a puzzle I've had for a while. I can see that you seem to have something electrical on the top of the cupboard to the right of the fireplace area. Where are the plug sockets? If they are hidden by the cupboard, how do you get the cable from the item to the socket?0 -

It's a speaker so not powered but we do have plug sockets in the cupboard (they are on the back wall so the cupboard back has a cutout for the socket). with cables running out to the top.
Both shelves in the cupboard have a 50mm hole in the corner cut with a hole saw so cables can be threaded through, as does the work top, which is finished with a chrome cable grommet:

Mine's ventilated, you just can't see it.
As well as a cutout on the side for cables (inside the cupboard, which does get airflow) there's quite a significant slot behind the TV to allow cables to exit. Behind this the opening the real chimney breast is covered up by a piece of hardboard with a letter-box sized opening in it.
Also we mostly filled the stud frame with Rockwool to improve sound deadening but left it unfilled at the bottom and around the opening to channel any air towards the ventilation slot. I'm not anticipating any problems.0
