Flying Freehold

My neighbour is selling up. Between us we have a flying freehold. They own the downstairs part and we have the upstairs. So in effect I own a room that over looks their back garden. The new buyers solicitor has requested to see my insurance. Do I have to comply? When I moved here we made no requests to the then neigbours, and when they moved our current neighbour made no requests from us. So what has changed? I can't help thinking there's a problem that we don't know about.

It's sensible to check there is insurance in place on the property otherwise if the downstairs owner arranges their own insurance and the property burns down they will be left in limbo.
Their solicitor will most likely arrange a policy that covers them should you ever let your policy lapse and there is a big claim to protect them (But not you).0
