Just under 2 months ago we ordered Space CREAM kitchen from MFI Croydon. When it arived we recieved the space WHITE kitchen
After a week of angry phonecalls and unanswered messages we had to go intos store and finally got it resolved. Problem solved....not quite. Our fitters began to install carcuses of kitchen we had recieved but noticed more mistakes with our order. We were short of 2 worktops, given the wrong size of cabinet (against what was advised on kitchen design which was done in store) and the order awaiting of new cream doors is wrong.
I have been calling and leaving messages for 2 weeks now to try and sort this out but I can never get a hold of the ellusive store manager. I have also visited the store twice and I can't get anybody to change the order.
I have given up the will to live having called around 10 times a day for the last two weeks with no progress. CREAM doors are due next sat and I know there are some mistakes, but I think I may just get builder to buy the changes we need off the shelf in Howdens because I can't think of an alternative to get my kitchen finished.
Sorry for the rant....my real question is that I am left here with around 12 Space WHITE doors which I'm pretty sure they are not picking up as they seem to want nothing to do with this customer. Is there any way anyone can suggest for me to get some money back for these to recoup what I'm going to spend in Howdens??
Thanks in advance, I know it's long!

I've bought extras from Howdens to save the wait for replacements from MFI and managed to get refunds from MFI for the excess stock. There was actually nothing wrong with our order except that parts of the design didn't quite make sense in real life so we made a few changes.
You've been treated pretty badly. I'd threaten to make a personal visit and deliver all the stuff straight to the store on a Saturday afternoon unless the manager calls you back and gives you the refund you deserve.
Apparantly MFI are loath to collect stuff, make changes or issue refunds because once they collect that stuff from you - it gets binned
Otherwise, if they don't collect stuff (which they appear to do a lot!) then ebay it is - space is a very popular kitchen, you should do quite well I hope.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Oh, if you get through to call centre, you will never get a call back! You have to get through to the store. I'd google for a local number if you haven't got one or really, make a personal visit - perhaps the first time without the spare stockEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Thanks for your reply doozergirl.
Yeh I have tried the local number all day everyday...ahhhh...no joy. I think I'll follow your lead and buy in Howdens as I'm not sure I'll keep my sanity if I pursue MFI any longer!!
Your suggestion of ebay sounds like the best idea, thanksI'll let you know how I get on.
Word of warning to anyone reading do not expect an ounce of customer service from MFI Croydon!!!!!!!!!0 -
Please be careful if ordering from Howdens for the Space stuff. They do not do the chunky handles like MFI do in the Space and I'm pretty sure (although not 100% so please don't quote me...I'm sure others on here will be able to clarify), that they are not exactly the same. I'm sure I've read on here that the Glendevon edges aren't strictly the same as the Space edges (one is more rounded than the other).
What a nightmare though. I feel for you. We have had our kitchen delivered from Howdens last week (still in garage as room isn't ready yet!), but the beauty with that is we ordered it on the Wednesday, everything delivered on the Friday as they hold stock. If something is wrong they will collect and then deliver replacement the following day. MFI are probably panicking because they are on a 4-6 wk delay and know that your cream stuff won't be with you for at least another month!
Good luck. Hang in there. It will look great in then end.0 -
I am ordering the cream range from Howdens but the handles and cornices from MFI......Howdens knocked off a nominal amount £120 from the order to compensate me,but the ones from MFI came to £300,however I am quite happy as I want the units rigid and off the shelf. So I think I got the best of both worlds.0

Personally from experience MFI are dreadful and I wouldn't recommend them. They took over 6 months to complete my kitchen although I did get a free American style fridge worth over £1200 and a £500 refund from them for the inconvenience.
What worked for us is that we took photos of the unfinished kitchen with a letter of complaint detailing all our problems and refused to leave the showroom without speaking to the manager. I'd try this again and if it doesn't work, then state you're going to take legal advice.

Thanks everyone for their responses. I have been trying since I posted to get in touch with them and have been in to the store but I can't get to speak to a manager. I noticed that Howdens have a sale on in Oct - so think I'll just buy the extras we can't get changed from there Although they may not be identical to the MFI units I can't see another way around this.
I am sorry to hear Lynn that you also had problems -I really want to give them bad press here to stop anyone else from going through what I did! You mentioned you too pictures of your unfinished kitchen - did they fit it for you or did you get your own fitters? I may do the same and pursue it with a complaint, altough don't think they will take a blind bit of notice!
Thanks again,
