blue badge-Parking eye at Morrisons

Options
Hi all,

I have received a parking charge notice from Morrisons/Parking eye through the post. I am a blue badge holder myself, and on the day we parked in the blue badge bays and my husband went in to buy a few things ( less than 5 pounds spend) . I remember the car park used to be operate by council or just normal pay and display machine. Not noticing they have changed to a private parking company and being a blue badge holder and as I was sitting in the car, I did not do anything (not bought a ticket or punch in my car reg).

After receiving the parking charge notice, I went back to the car park and notice that only one sign were amongst the blue badge bays at one end, and we did not see this sign at all (as we parked at the other end). The parking was 2 pounds for 2 hours and money is refunded with a 5 pounds minimum spend.

So what is the best thing to do now? go back to the store and speak to the manager? I don't have my receipt anymore, but I got my credit card statement as a proof?

thanks a lot for the help.

    Email donotreply@morrisonsplc.co.uk

Odd looking email but it WORKS and that gets M's Head Office. You could attach to the email, a scan of your bank transaction (cover up the account number and other transactions you do not want M's to see).

They will cancel within a week of any complaint about ParkingEye...a contract M's appear to be regretting!

It is THAT easy. This WILL be cancelled.

You should also of course submit online, an appeal to ParkingEye, again attaching the transaction and copy of Blue Badge. Never ignore PE.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The blue badge scheme does not apply on private land, but as you say, you were not aware it had changed so the signage must have been inadequate if you did not notice it.

You should also be aware that the disabled bays are there for the use of disabled people who are using the shops, not someone able bodied who does your shopping for you. Of course, if the shopper is also disabled, even if they don't have a blue badge, then it is perfectly acceptable to use a disabled bay.
It may well be that you intended to get out of the car but were not able to after you had arrived, but in that instance the driver should have moved the car to a non disabled apace if only he was getting out to do the shopping.
Misuse of disabled bays is one of the reasons these companies infest private car parks, so it is best not to give them an excuse for their continued existence.

As already advised, complain to the store manager, not customer services, showing a copy of your badge and the driver's receipt for the day. You could also explain how the signs are deficient which is why you fell foul of this nasty parking company that Morrisons have employed, so they are equally liable for all parking problems.
You should also send the blue appeal template from the NEWBIES thread to parking lie just in case Morrisons don't cancel it. You must not miss the appeal deadline whatever happens unless you get a cancellation from the parking company in writing.

  • There is a blind think with blue badges that parking is free and its not in many places and is changing.

You must check signage as a blue badge is not a free parking ticket, its just get you parking for you mobility needs.
