Me too. I love Wales, and the bit of Devon I live in is very like Wales in a number of ways.

It does have a lot going for it in many ways. Fewer people/less pollution.

The downside being of in more remote areas there are some people that regard me as being a foreigner in my own country (a thought that literally never occurred to me before moving:o).

    Swings and roundabouts...swings and roundabouts.

But there are rather fewer people/less pollution/less traffic and it feels "safer" (ie from anyone trying to attack our country - with terrorist incidents, etc).

That just had me googling. Verdict = much of Swansea surprisingly cheap and the reason is probably up there in the descriptions - ie making a virtue of near the motorway...and I have heard about there being a LOT of Japanese Knotweed there.

Pontcanna = yep..."my" sorta area by the look of it and I think that might have been the one I stayed in back when - and I can't afford it. Cheapest detached house on Rightmove is one I would have on my viewing list - and it's £300,000. Can't afford that....

Cheapest any sort of house I'd view - an end terrace at £250,000 and I can't afford that either (loadsa work - but got potential).

She (And her husband) are not senior solicitors for no reason!

But i'd wager their place would be worth 2 mil in London.

Anything West and i'm sold. The parents, sister and outlaws live that way. It's always our getaway. The outlaws in particular. He's an ex RM Colonel and has built a brilliant OP over looking the river and valley. Stunning.

A few glasses of wine have been enjoyed up there!
  • You've got me having a "Wonder if I shoulda got married after all" moment....ie what sort of house could have been afforded by two salaries.:rotfl:

Never mind - I've got a bit of a tendency to pick "up and coming" and about to get better just as it starts to veer in that direction...keep your fingers crossed...:).

    :rotfl:

On previous experience - that'll be about 10 years time then...:rotfl:

I'm far from married! But your point is noted!

    Run away. Quickly.

I can imagine few things worse than being next door to a neighbour who could potentially make your life a misery. It's just not worth taking the risk.

You've found out before you've completed the purchase so really it is actually a lucky escape!
    This^^^^^^^^
I've lived in a few lovely houses in my time, but it doesn't compensate for a bad neighbour. It will totally take over your life.
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.
  • We have just sold our house mainly due to bad neighbours and we have moved into my mothers that's how much we wanted out! If she invited you in however and was pleasant doesn't seem like a nut job
