Can any one give advice on this loyalty programme
A friend has booked through priceline a break and been accepted at the 4* Sheraton Park Lane for next weekend.
(Blindman I'm trying to get them to post their bidding history!!!)
Mixed reviews on tripadvisor to say the least
Would it help them to be a member of the above loyalty programme before staying there, and contacting the hotel this week in the hope of a better room allocation? Would that work as they've not yet stayed at a sheraton property?
All advice gratefully received

If they don't then you could always do it for them !
I joined the SPG program for a Sheraton in Montreal I'd won on Hotwire
Got me a bottle of water free and nothing else!.
Still, it's free so no harm in joining, though don't expect any bonus at check-in.
Room allocation is really down to the check in guy at the time.
Smile sweetly and be polite (try to 'tip' him) and they may get lucky.0 -
I've had a look at the blurb from the site above and in their overview, had a look on preferred guests and the differences between preferred, gold and platnium... under the scheme you would get a standard room if it's available... but you would only get a free upgrade with at least 1,000 points:

I had 2 stays at the Buenos Aires Sheraton in the space of 10 days. I e-mailed to say I would be coming. The first stay I got upgraded to an Exective Floor and the second I got nothing, not even a bottle of water.0
