Ericaceous compost in a tub

I want to make up a winter tub using 3 heathers but need to find other smaller plants that I can plant in the tub also. I wanted to put ivy in but not sure it will be ok in the same compost and I didn't want to bother planting stuff in pots and then sinking into the tub.Is there any plants that I could use that are smaller and will go with the heathers, possibly trailing

Just done this, I reckoned crocuses aren't fussy, so I put lots of those in and a few tulips. Edged hopefully with some bits of purple ajuga.

Oh and the heathers were reduced from £3something to 50p at B and M.

Ophiopogon planiscapus 'Nigrescens' (black mondo grass) is OK in acidic soil. The grass like leaves would make a contrast with the heather.

Ivy should be tough enough not to care

    Quite an impressive winter pot!
