2% saving. For me thats £6.40 per year so it'll take 62.5 years to break even.0 -

I don't agree with the cost....it could have been done a lot cheaper as stated in this report.0 -
I am obviously bias in the issue as it pays to keep a roof over my families head. Are people here arguing about the government paying 11bn? The government keeping tabs on everyones usage(because they wont communicate directly with the supplier)?0

The government aren't paying for them. We are paying through our bills.I am obviously bias in the issue as it pays to keep a roof over my families head. "You will not be charged separately for a smart meter or for the in-home display. Under current arrangements you pay for the cost of your meter and its maintenance through your energy bills, and this will be the same for smart meters."0 -
I.T.Y.S!
I will not have one and (atm) I cannot be compelled to take one. I read my own meters regularly and I send that to my supplier. Within 48 hours I have an email giving me a link to their website and a new bill. What could be simpler?I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

For anyone interested in the technical 'disaster' that this programme has become, read this:

Nice of us all to pay for them though

Just as I suspected. Smart meters are a farce.
Never wanted one, never will.
I can say hand on heart, that I never fell for the twaddle the energy companies were trying to dish out about how amazing they were.
Good riddance to bad rubbish. :wave:You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

not having to read it at all, would probably be simpler.0 -
So reading this - we're paying for them.
Am i paying for them regardless of whether i have one or not? For anyone saying stupid question, i'm simply asking have they just put the prices up for everyone to cover the cost of these things?
British Gas are wanting to install one here. As i know not a great deal about them, my obvious question is ......
* are there any good reasons why i should NOT have one?0
