And with good reason.

Here in the countryside, some of the tradespeople need to be introduced. They don't advertise or have sign-written vans. To get them for the first time, you need a fixer.

One guy we've used is usually building/renovating a house somewhere nearby, and he has sheep & cattle too, so he's always on the go. We tried to get him to do work when we first came here, but although he promised politely to come and look, he never showed up.

After making proper contact, the rest is down to patience and the quality of your tea, cake and biscuits.
