Dad is in hospital with a UTI at the moment. Expecting him to be discharged today or Monday. We have stressed we need a care package in place as his mobility is bad. Add to that Mum has dementia & now needs help showering & dressing.
Where do I start to get help! They have £19,000.

Hi
It must be very worrying for you at the moment.
I care for my wife who has dementia (were are only 65!) and have found myself very much left to my own devices (she was diagnosed in early 2014 and after 2 years under the local mental health unit, we were told to refer to our GP for support!).
Recently, after getting passed around from pillar to post (no joined up approach to care here in the South East?) I was recommended to try contacting our local Crossroads Care organisation. I've yet to do so but googling it for your area, the following link was amongst others, so it may be worth looking into?

The hospital where your father is should really be liaising with your local authority care services, as both your parents (and yourself, assuming you are their carer) are entitled to have care plans in place that meet your and their needs.
I wish you all the best in sorting this out, sorry I can't be of more help.
Regards

Thanks for that. I am not their carer as they live in Northamptonshire.Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0

Contact the hospital, speak to a nurse on the ward and ask for an assessment for reablement care for his return home. This care is usually time limited, so make a referral to adult social services in their area for an assessment for everyday care needs (you will need your parent(s) agreement for you to do this on their behalf or Dad can do this himself).'The only thing that helps me keep my slender grip on reality is the friendship I have with my collection of singing potatoes'
