Change of address to overseas

I read on here that most or at least some main UK banks allow you to notify them of a change of address after moving abroad and let you keep the account open. Some even continue to send regular statements.


I gather though that certain banks force customers to close their accounts. Do the supermarket banks like Tesco, Sainsbury's make you do the same with saving accounts, anyone know? Thanks.

It's not possible to generalise about 'supermarket banks' (or the others for that matter) - each bank will have its own policy on this regardless of any arbitrary association with supermarkets, they're not a grouping in their own right....

Most banks will allow you to keep any existing accounts but won't allow non UK residents to open any new accounts.

Thanks eskbanker for the explanation, concrete question - do Tesco Bank allow customers who then move overseas to keep account open? Anyone here bank with Tesco?
