Aldi (and Lidl) prices for their own-brand products tend to be around the same sort of level as major supermarket value lines.

But the quality is far higher - it's on a par with the main brands and the major supermarket standard own brands. In some cases (imported charcuterie, for example) it's often on a par with their premium own brands.

Very very rarely have we ever found an Aldi product to be in any way inferior to the main brand, and the price will be about a third less. Frequently it will come from the same factory, to a very similar specification. Dorset Cereals, for example, make Lidl's muesli, and Aldi's lowest priced butter comes from the same creamery that supplies Country Life.

Gotta laugh..... I bet that Aldi use the same psychology to get people to believe that there 'cheapo' products are better than branded as Waitrose use to convince people that there premium prices give a much better product than Aldi etc.

I'm not talking psychology - I'm talking actual experience of different products. And hard fact on who makes them. ;)

It's your opinion on the products and who makes them is neither here nor there.

Aldi's version of Branston is disgusting. Tesco's version makes a v happy sandwich! Not that it's a reason to do a full shop there ;)

I think if someone took the trouble to read through the posts to this forum over the past few years, they wouldn't be under any illusions about whose own brand products were better, Tesco's or Aldi's.

I am certainly in no doubt.

I hate to labour a point, but the sandwich pickle is an exception.
