    You're thinking of AC/DC.
    Chris Rea did the Road to Hell - and even then, there's debate as to whether it IS about the M25 or not. IYAM, the road is fairly clearly metaphorical in the lyrics.

    Highway to hell was a lot more fun if you listen to the lyrics of the two songs.

    Road to hell was released in 1989 so a very different world. I lived in reading in the early nineties (luckily I moved) but at that time I could do jobs in Essex involving leaving reading at 0700 and being on site before 0830, some were a temporary commute for a couple of weeks.

    Things have changed a little in that time.
