From a technical point of view, you know that there are advantages to utilising 64 bit over 32 bit.

Point being that there is no advantage to installing 32 bit over 64 bit, unless there is just too little RAM installed.

Unless of course the program you are using is 32bit (much rarer these days) as you do pay a slight performance penalty for the WoW layer.

Another thing is you are going to get less writes to an SSD with 32 bit so may squeeze more life out of it.
Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.

Prefers 32 bit for particular software to run?

As you can see I asked about that earlier and received a reply. So that is clearly not an issue.

No mention of an SSD and I certainly wouldn't choose 32 bit over 64 bit for that reason. Nor would you for that matter. :)

    Whoops, I misread your reply.
No reason atall not to use the 64 version.

I have for a couple of older 4gb DDR2 lappys that have SSDs and dedicated VRAM in them on the grounds I'm very mean with money ;)

Beyond 4gb yes 64 bit is a no brainer unless you have a 32 bit PAE kernel ('nix or hacked win) but IMHO 2gb-4gb RAM is a grey area and down to ones personal choice when weighing the advantages of both.

Yeah im with you on that one Fighsback.

If it were me personally though, id plump for the 64bit just to make future expansion easy.
Especially as a 4GB stick can be had for as little as 20 squid

    Thanks for all the advice/Help.

Took a copy of the 32 bit for that link Funtime and paid a visit.
Decided to install 64 bit from the disc he had and 15-20 mins later all working without a hitch.
    (Dont ask - I didn't lol)

Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.
