    partners earnings mean we do not qualify for WTC and therefore the 70% childcare would not apply to us.
    You both need to work at least 16 hours to qualify for help with childcare costs via the tax credit system.Even if your earning are too high for WTC you can still get help towards childcare costs on CTC, it depends on income and how much your childcare costs are. It just shows as an additional amount on the CTC when you put figures into 'entitledto'.

    Assuming your child isn't approaching 3 when they would get the (non-means tested) funding. Your other option to reduce childcare costs would be if your OH employer offers childcare vouchers (or could be persuaded to). Then you could salary sacrifice upto £50 a week in return for vouchers and the money sacrificed is exempt from tax and NI.
