Help needed pretty quickly re deleting data - ta!

Hi everyone,

My friend and I are doing a car boot sale tomorrow and is selling her (v old) PC - she doesn't have any of the original CD's or disks that came with it so what should she do re getting all the data off there? I've just been reading a thread and killdisk and dban were mentioned - would this delete Windows as well - I was getting a bit confused with it all

Need help pretty quickly cos we need to be up at 4.30am   lol

Cheers
Linds

Format the disk and get some program to write 0's to it then 1's to it a few times and it should be OK.

You could also Fdisk it and make a small partition that should mess any data access up.

    That will take some time.
  • If you want to leave windows on, all you can do is

    turn off system restore.

Delete all your data and emails, uninstall all the extra applications in control panel.

then run this (tick all the boxes)

    www.ccleaner.com

then this (tick all the boxes, wipe 7 times)

    http://www.theabsolute.net/sware/clndisk.html

    then this

    http://www.auslogics.com/disk-defrag/

if the pc has a windows restore partition, do a restore from that afterwards
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
