In a story covered in the last series of Rip Off Britain holidays, it was disclosed that booking direct will nearly always get a better price than the likes of Booking.c and others a point which I certainly agree with. What the story did not disclose relates to review scores. With the named site reviews are only from staying guests which gives it a lot more credibility than Trip. However for each category reviews out of 10 are scored as 2.5, 5, 7.5 and 10. If anyone scores a zero it is assumed that the category is not applicable and thus ignored, so the minimum score any business can get is 2.5. The result being that if you see a great price and the review score is just about half, do not be fooled the score of half actually represents a satisfaction rating of about 30%. As one of the categories reviewed will be location you can assume a real score of 25%. So please do not be mislead by thinking its a great price and the review score is not too bad, you will regret it. My personal suggestion would be not to book anywhere with a score below 7 and if children are in your party 8 should be the very minimum. Then as mentioned before always call up the place direct, you will get a good idea about the place from speaking to someone, first impressions are always the best
