SMART TV - catch up TV

Hello all,
I need a new TV as mine has died, and thought I'd look at SMART televisions, mainly to watch catch up TV. However on most of the ones I've looked at so far, it seems you can't get I player, or can't get ITV hub/4OD, or both. I've not found this in the actual product description, but rather someone in a user review has commented that this is an issue.
So, are the reviewers correct? Does getting 'smart' mean I would not necessarily be able to watch catch up TV? It's the only thing I'd want smart for really as I am not likely to want to stream films or anything.
Or any suggestions of TVs that would be good for catch up. I have been looking at smaller/cheaper end of the market (32 inch).
Thanks in advance

Don't bother with a Smart TV. Just get a TV with Freeview HD. You can add a NOW TV box for £15 that will give you the other things you want for no added extra cost..0

Smart will generally give you catchup .
But you would need to check what catchup apps are on each model .0 -
For a while one of the best, bargain non-smart 32" TVs you could get was the Samsung UE32J5100. I got one just before Xmas for £190 and combined with an Amazon TV stick has all the "smart" features I need.0

We have a Samsung Smart TV and it's got all the regular channel catchup services in it, iPlayer ITVhub, All4, 5OD, plus Netflix, Amazon Prime and various others.
Just go onto the manufacturer's website for a TV that interests you and see what it's got - or go into a Richer Sounds store, where, as many people state on here, you will almost certainly get good advice.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. If you get a regular TV with a 'smart box' that plugs into it (Chromecast, Amazon Firestick, NowTV box), then if things move on, you can replace the external box without having to replace the TV.
Do you have a tablet, smartphone, iPad or similar at the moment? If so, the Chromecast and others will allow you to playback internet-based stuff and control it from the pad.0 -
A non smart TV with amazon fire stick loaded with Kodi is all you need.0

Brilliant! non smart TV and 'smart' box/stick it is - had no idea they existed, or, i had a vague idea they existed but didnt know what they actually did (I am a techno dunce!). Thank you so much everyone, problem sorted0

Don't neglect Freeview HD or you'll need to get another box for that.
So Freeview HD and a non Smart TV.
This would have fit the bill if in better condition.0 -
If you just want cheap: Technika 32F22B Full HD Slim 32 Inch LED TV with Freeview HD £119
Tesco Outlet has a few of these coming up.
Maybe you may be able to grab a bargain. £120 to £130 would be nice.
If you miss out out on the first0
