Default dates query

Options
Hello,
I've obtained a copy of my credit report. Back in 2010 I was in a debt management plan for a lloyds tab loan account and credit card. In September 2010 the dmp broke down and as a result the loan account was marked as default as of October 2010. However the credit card is recorded as missed payments for several mo this before finally becoming a default account in May 2011. My question is, should these account not read the same date? has anyone ever successfully had default dates amended and is there a template to request such an amendment. The accounts are now with a debt recovery company so I'm. It sure who I should be contracting to have amended?
Any comments are really appreciated

Ps I'm making repayments and these accounts will be settled within the next few months.

Thanks

  • Hiya

I managed to get Barclaycard to backdate a default from July 2015 to January 2013 - I posted about it here. Slightly different situation, though, as I was consistently making my DMP payments.

    Hi Sillysladey,

As both accounts are with the same bank I think you could argue that the accounts should have defaulted at the same time (or certainly closer than 7-8months apart). Write and complain to the debt collector and the original lender. If the original lender recorded the information on the file they may be responsible for changing it. but it could depend on how the matter was passed/ sold to the debt collector.

If you send your complaint to both, recorded, you should be able to get this resolved quicker. If they refuse to change the date you can escalate the complaint to the Information Commissioner Office (ICO). You may want to quote the ICO guidelines that a default should be registered within 3-6months. Good luck,
