Hi,
Small but annoying prob in W10, I use a remote HD to back up and ever since doing a backup (or it might have been an SD card in phone or sat nav device) the PC keeps opening a window saying something like reconnect your remote drive.
Is it because of my backup settings and I'm due to backup or just a general windows warning that a particular drive cant be found?
Any help appreciated.

Too scant in detail, more info needed as to the set up. For example is the drive a NAS drive or or just a USB drive plugged into the back of your router using the USB port.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0

ok sorry, drive is a portable hd plugged into usb socket. I know that when I plug in a usb stick, kindle, sat nav etc they show as an additional drive so it could be any of them, all have been connected over the years to various computers but I never had warnings with any previous operating system until Win10.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Have you ever mounted a USB drive within a folder on your main drive? I'm guessing that might lead to this message.0

I'll copy and paste the message next time it comes up. It only ever happens when you are in the middle of something - such as 3 min chess!!Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

Did you have a drive mapped to one of these devices that are no longer connected ?
Click the folder icon at the bottom, then click "this pc" on the left.
See what the computer is expecting to find0 -
It wouldn't be 'Could not reconnect all network drives', would it? That's what I get when I boot up in the morning ever since the big update to Win10 on Wednesday.
And, when I click 'This PC' in File Explorer, it shows a large red X by that drive. Oddly, however, if I click on it, I can access the drive, and then when I go back to 'This PC', it shows as accessible again.
However, my 'smart' backup software isn't backing up to the drive automatically any more, though I can use it to back up manually.0 -
Could be you've changed the drive letter of the backup medium.0
