O/S Daily Wednesday 21st September 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, dry underfoot, yesterday started off very cloudy and overcast, I put the washing out as I'm trying not to use the TD, the sky cleared and it was a lovely day here, so I'll be putting another load out today, hoping for the same again!

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work, DS2 still in his pit, I'll wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was a naughty egg, bacon, sausage, chips, mushrooms and beans - eaten and enjoyed by us all, and I didn't need to buy anything, and it used up fresh food from the fridge that otherwise would have been thrown away. I remembered to get the pork steaks out to defrost, tonight we'll be having pork steaks, mash, veg and gravy.

Work yesterday was busier than I expected, but then did ease off later in the afternoon, we'll see what today brings. I'm working all day again - I'm doing the extra hours still and I'm working Saturday this week too, it's payday on Monday for us so it'll be interesting to see how much extra I actually get as I didn't get paid as much last time as I thought I should, due to the cut off date for extras to be put in to payroll.

Tomorrow I'll be on my days' off, so will have a long "to do" list that I'll be tackling.

Keep safe and well x

  • Morning. Lazy morning so I'm on here rather than rushing around like a blue ars*d fly. Have a great day everyone. Lovely autumn morning here in sunny North West Glasgow. Going for a run later on the reservoir.

Ok. Large bucket of tea needed.

    Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o
  • Morning All

    Thanks for the thread nmlc.
DW emptied and washing folded and put away, just a small amount of ironing that can wait. None to do today.

Really enjoyed the cinema, Bridget Jones Baby, daft but fun. It was 'cheap Tuesday' so only cost £4. Had a good nights sleep too, no coughing fits but could do with another 8 hours I think!

Thinking of you Lainey. hilstep hope you are making more memories. Special thoughts to you TA.

Hope everyone is well, have a good day, take care. XX

Thinking of Lainey, Hilstep and the TA's today.
Off to work in a sec, I popped round to see DGD as she was 2 yesterday, I gave her a Peppa Pig birthday card and a packet of chocolate buttons. Last of the big spenders, that's me. I bought her a Clarks shoe voucher but I didn't expect her to be interested in that, so hence the buttons.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Another nice day forecast so there is one washload ready to peg out and another chugging away in the wm.

Well I am a lot less churned up than I was yesterday at this time, though still had a rubbish night's sleep. I'm back to my old silly o'clock wakening.

Yesterday's appointment for Mr TA was not as devastating as I was fearing. We saw a lovely Consultant in what turned out to be the Urology Clinic about the "something" on the left kidney. It's definitely not another tumour, more of a slight blockage between the kidney and bladder, which doesn't look to be anything to worry about and may well go of it's own accord.. Nevertheless, he has to have a cystoscopy just to confirm it. So fingers crossed on that.

Meanwhile we still have next Thursday's appt back in the Oncology clinic where we will find out whether the Liverpool treatment has helped control the existing tumours. Anyway thanks one and all for your good wishes yesterday, so much appreciated. And thanks Polly too for popping back on and of course I remember you. I often wondered why you had deserted us.

So for now life is back to normal - or as normal as it can be! We have the 3 girls to pick up from home to take to school this morning. Then they are back again for tea in different "sittings" in among ballet, tap and Rainbows. Then a sleepover and another school run tomorrow. It might be sausage and mash for tea as I still have a lot to get through before DB gets us next month's order!

Because of going down to Herts for the wedding on Friday jobs are being brought forward a day this week. So today is shopping day but don't need a great deal. Think a quick trip into Aldi should be enough to keep us going, especially as we will be away for three days for the wedding.

Have a good day all and (((HUGS))) to all the poorlies/poorly relatives and those with worries. Take care xx

    Morning all,

Its been a tough week at work so far this week with really bad behaviour from some clients so its been a bit stressful, I hope today is a tad calmer !

Off to mums tonight for dinner at least I hope we are, I did not call her last night as usual but we normally go every Wednesday really looking forward to it.

Did a wash of work t-shirts last night had to use the td to get them dry as it is a bit damp here and I should not hang washing in the house anyway dud to the mould problem we had last year.

Hilstep hope you are ok and making more lovely memories with your family xx

Lainey hope mum is a bit better and can get the help she needs xxx

    Have good days all xx
  • Good morning all
Thank you NMLC for starting us off today
FurryBeastOz WOW didnt know you could run on water lol (Going for a run later on the reservoir.)

Well DH came home from work early as he was not feeling well. At first we thought it was stress but this morning it turns out he has the start of a cold, so he is very grumpy today but at least he has gone into work.
DD1 and GD descended on me yesterday so didnt get anything done i wanted.
Today i have made a list and fully intend to cross of at least half lol
DW emptied, WM on , have to clean the glass and hoover the fish tank as it is looking mucky. Got GD another fancy dress costume yesterday from CH so now that is washed i just have to tidy up the loose threads on the hem and put it away for her Christmas box.
Just a general today up today as i really need to get on with my reflexology course today. (the sooner i pass the sooner i can make some extra pennies)
No idea what is for dinner tonight i might make some soup and rolls depends on how time goes.
    Anyhoo must get on
Hugs to all in need xxxx
    Bright Blessings xx

    Morning everyone.

Good news TA, it must have been such a worrying time for you both. You can start breathing again.

The sky is still a watery blue and the track is dry. It's probably too much to hope that there'll be no rain today. I'm going away tomorrow so may risk a load of washing for the line.

Today I have to help a neighbour sort out her iCloud settings and remove her old email address (or at least send out a mail to all her contacts about using her new address). Then I've got to prep tomorrow's teaching although I've made a start.

Food today could be a healthy dose of fresh air! Yesterday I pigged out something dreadful, think it's stress / comfort eating because the heating engineer who did some work on my mums radiator emailed me to say she 'wasn't herself'. I phoned her and she reported being fine, she sounded bright and chirpy enough but I'm glad I'm going down tomorrow.

    Happy Wednesday everyone.

Good morning, thanks for the thread nmlc x

Glad to hear the appointment wasn't as bad as you feared MrsTA xx
    Enjoy the run Furry x
Hope you get through that mahoosive list LWW x

I am at the church today. Will be sorting out two more lettings issues that have been discovered in the last two days which is frustrating as I didn't make the bookings! Butt clenching conversations here I come.

Will be meeting a neighbour for a coffee/light lunch later as haven't seen her in a while. Hoping not to spend too much. Washing will go on before I leave. Looks like a nice day ahead, so will peg it out before I leave.

    Have a good day all,

    Good morning everyone :hello:

I had a bit of a lie in this morning which was lovely and I managed to be up in time to see the girls off to school. The sun is trying to shine and it will hopefully be a nice sunny day.

We had takeaway last night so the girls were apparently eating cold pizza for breakfast. Not my idea of a sensible brekkie but at least they are clearing out the fridge. I have ordered a new fridge freezer which will be here on Sunday, I just have to keep my fingers crossed that the one I have now lasts that long.

Tea tonight will definitely be freezer surprise. I am pretty sure there is a bag of wedges in there so just need to find something to go with them. I will have a hunt around in a minute to see what to cook.

I had a lovely day yesterday as my eldest DD came to see me in the morning. She was on her way to a job interview so I have my fingers crossed for her. Then in the afternoon there was another knock on the door and it was my very best friend with her little grandson. What a lovely surprise for me. We spent the afternoon nattering and drinking tea and playing with the toddler, it was so nice.

I am planning on doing some knitting this afternoon and have to face up to doing some paperwork this morning. But first i need a cup of tea and some breakfast.

I am glad the news wasn't too bad for Mr TA, hopefully the next set of results will be positive too x
Lainey, you and your mum are in my thoughts and prayers, hope she is not feeling too bad x
Coxy, good luck with the conversations, hope your butt stays unclenched!

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to and sending hugs to all who would like one, take care xx
  • Morning everyone,

Feeling pretty rubbish. Got the cold so I'm constantly sniffing/coughing/sneezing. I'll survive.

I was expecting a long day at work yesterday but managed to nip off at 5 and have a productive night. Not sure what the plan is tonight but could be doing with a bath with some salts in it.

Saw my GF's car yesterday evening after her bump and looks like she'll need a new bumper. It was too dark to see if there's any internal damage but fortunately I don't think there is and it's all superficial.

I read an interesting point on one of my podcasts yesterday which reminded me of this thread. The majority of successful business people all have 1 thing in common; they get up early and not just because they've a long way to travel to work or an early appointment but so they can get up, maybe exercise, shower, reply to emails, have a filling breakfast or catch up on the goings on that happened during their sleep. One study that the Dr on said podcast referred to said that to make a habbit it takes 60 days, so considering setting the alarm for 6 each morning. I do love my sleep though.

FurryBeast - Enjoy the run :)
TA - Good news about Mr TA, that'll be a relief. Hope the problem with the kidney passes with ease. Also you've put me in the mood for sausage and mash!!!
Lainey - Hope your mum is ok.
