Car Insurance Query - Anyone decent with insurance...

Hi all,

I'm usually pretty savvy with these type of things being a car enthusiast I tend to know all the details inside out and blast quotes through like anything.

I have found myself in a bit of a predicament and just want to make sure I'm going the right way about it, and not going to be paying through the roof....

My scenario is this. 23 Years old. Passed at 17. 5 Years NCB. (Currently own a big engined diesel BMW - changed commutes from very high mileage to 10 miles per day and therefore selling.

Therefore BMW needs to go. I will have no problem selling it what so ever. Currently policy goes on till 14th March 2017, so circa 6 months away. Paid £615 upfront for the year.

So....

Replacement car, fine. Buying one this weekend, call this one Mazda.

Swap BMW with Mazda. They want an extra £30 for the Mazda, to run to March 14th haha. So it's more to insure a £1900 20 year old car with 125bhp than a £4k BMW M sport... Okay lol. Such a number lottery I hate it.

Put BMW on temp insurance costing £39 TPFT for 30 days. I can sell it within this time.

Then this is my query -

I will likely want a second car at some point within the next 2 - 5 months. Something silly, like M3 or S2000. Am I better off then insuring these with 'Multi-car' - quotes don't seem too bad suprisingly.

And I would want the more expensive car to be the 'main' car with the NCB on etc. Can you just swap as you please?

Am I better off seeking separate insurance for my Mazda? But I'm not 24 or 25 so lots of classic / specialists can't even cover me.

Such a joke / con / loophole jumping exercise really do hate it with a passion.

Any advice welcomed, I'm confused... and yes I've been on that website haha.

Cheers in advance.

When I got a second car, my insurer at the time (Aviva) did me a deal.

They gave me a discount equivalent to full NCD. If I left them after a year, the letter would say I had one year no claims on the new car. If I left after two, it would say that I had full NCD.

I had been with Aviva a while, as had my wife - so I don't know if its something they would do for others.
