conveyanceing aborted, what does this mean

Hi
Today i got a letter from solicitors saying that the conveyancing matter has been aborted on their system.

Any idea what thus means? Has the seller pulled out or has the solicitor decided not to accept me as client?

  • Have you contacted them to ask?

Thanks all, i am a first time buyer and a little panicy.

Thought once got a solicitor that was it
  • That's very odd wording. I'd be interested to see the text of the entire letter.

I'd have expected 'we can no longer act for you'. Or 'your purchase cannot proceed because.......'.
You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.
  • Really strange. I would also be panicking.

Has the process been smooth up until now?

Normally when a transaction is described as abortive it means someone has pulled out - my guess would be that the conveyancer has heard from the agents tat the sale has fallen through.

But the best bet is to contact them and ask.

Don't panic just yet. It may be nothing. My buyers sols told him his buyer had pulled out as their solicitor had closed the case and said it was not proceeding. Turned out the buyer had got a new solicitor. It would be really bad for you to be informed that way if it has fallen through. Get on the phone first thing and find out the facts. No point panicking till you know them.
