  • The post it doesn't say estimate or quote.

Have they said why it has increased?

Apparently the manufacturer put up the prices on September 1st. I have the RRP which is £600 higher than the quote but there's no way the site is paying RRP so I have no idea if it's true.

So what? Are you saying they should compromise on their profit margin?

Very professional - that's how the site runs. It's very much a 'don't like it, f*ck off' sort of place.

If someone quoted me £21K for something on a scrap of paper I wouldn't like it and I'd f*ck off.

How long ago did you get the quote/estimate and how long ago did you agree to go ahead and pay the deposit?

Have they said that if you cancel now due to the. Changing the terms you can have your deposit refunded

I work in retail and will quite often write a price down for a customer on a scrap of paper, I'm not giving them an official quote I'm giving them the price as it is if they buy on that day, if they went away to think and came back the next day and the price had increased then they can either pay the higher price or leave it.

That's how it is on our site - we already have a van on there and have been on the site for over 15 years... It's very much in demand and due to that it's what you have to do; no compromise. They're absolute crooks, but you have to go along with it.

I'm telling you what I know, so I can get the best advice. I don't like your tone.

Oh, and the answer to your question is no, that's not what I'm saying. I'm asking a friendly community for advice on where we stand and if we have any rights. Or am I wrong to ask, and should I know the answers before I post? If so, why are you and me here, and why does this forum exist?!

If the answer to my question is no, we don't have any rights, then we have to find the money or lose/get our deposit refunded (still not sure on our rights with this). As I said, the question was asking where we stand, nothing more, nothing less.

Post-it note was given to us during the last week in August and we gave the cheque for the deposit on 8th Sept. We agreed full spec and didn't know about the increase on the base price until the spec was confirmed yesterday. Apparently the price increase came in on 1st Sept.

Is buying this Caravan really a good idea?. If you have stretched your finances so far that you can't find another £600 that is just asking for trouble if you have any unplanned expenses.

Personally if I had agreed a price for a particular specification I would never agree to pay more and would say I want it for the original price or a full refund of the deposit. But this may be difficult if they are as rude as you say they are and didn't give you a quote that stated the details and the price.

You could always get a nice touring caravan instead and have the freedom to go to different sites and locations instead of the one you have been going to for the last 15 years!.
