Not often I start a thread but can you actually buy an ordinary 600mm (ish) wide fridge freezer with a 'proper' water dispenser? Or are they all American size?

The other option is a cold filtered water tap. Don't need a Quooker for boiling water, just cold. What would a good but reasonably priced brand be? Does reasonably priced exist if it's chilled?

  • When you say 'proper' do you mean a plumbed in one? We couldn't find one anywhere that was normal size. Saying that ours had to be a Hoover one because it was an insurance job but we did look elsewhere to see what was available. The original one had a plumbed in water dispenser but it was a bit wider than 600.

Yes, a plumbed in one :)

So you couldn't find one that was like the original?
I don't really want to use the full width of an American style, but the request from my customer is for cold, cold water, plumbed in because the kids never top up her water jug - which i can well imagine!

  • Hi, no, we couldn't find the same one but it was probably about 10 years old. We did really want one plumbed in because all the fittings are there. The replacement one is American 'style' so a bit wider but still no water dispenser. Hoover only had one with a water dispenser but it was one you had to fill yourself, not what I wanted at all so I did without lol. Britain doesn't seem to do the ones with plumbed in water dispensers anymore. We did have a good look lol!

The old one was also a replacement for another one that went wrong - that was a 600. They don't seem to be very good at making them!!!!
