Possible Nexus 7 2013 hardware fault?

Hi there,
I bought a nexus 7 2013 last week or so at argos, upgraded it to the latest android version marshmallow.
Seemed to be running ok, partner likes the candy crush saga game and has noticed that after a while the candies seem to move very slowly on the nexus.
I tried reinstalling but after a while of playing the same thing happens.
Do you think its maybe a hardware problem that is causing this, the intense graphics of the game heating some of the internal hardware of the nexus?
