Hi. I am posting on behalf of my nephew who has just started studying in London. He is really struggling to get a bank account. This is because he is classed as a 'home student' as he is British, but he has been living in USA for last 5 years or so. As he hasn't had a UK address recently, he gets rejected for an account.
He can't apply as an International student because his letter from the college doesn't back that up! Any ideas? Thanks very much.

Go to the bank with him and maybe explain?
F that doesn't work, then he should be able to open a simple basic bank account that offers no overdraft. If he starts of with this, maybe he will build up some goodwill. They don't mind people who don't have overdrafts as there is no risk.0
