PPI and endowment mortgages

Hi

I wrote to Santander as my mortgage lender had been Alliance and Leicester asking if I was due PPI compensation on any of the three mortgages I had (at one time simultaneously!) and the short answer was "no".

However, I had an endowment mortgage for 20 years and the policy was with Eagle Star. Is it possible that PPI was paid on this, please?

TIA

No-one is due anything. That is not how it works. You have to make a complaint with reasons for complaint. They then investigate your complaint and decide if your complaint is valid or not. Maybe they were just replying to say you had no PPI in the first place.

Endowments cant have PPI on them. Its not possible.

  • As far as I am aware, Alliance & Leicester was never tied to Eagle Star so the endowment was probably not sold by Alliance & Leicester. That, in turn, would suggest that the mortgage was arranged by somebody other than Alliance & Leiceste and it would be that somebody else, no Alliance & Leicester, that arranged the PPI - if indeed PPI ever existed.

    Thanks for the replies

I wrote the advised wording to Santander about possible AandL ppi payments

The Eagle Star endowment was via an independent agent and I am pleased to know that ppi would not have been paid on this policy
