I can't see why you expect them to refund money you lost on gambling. If you bought a lottery ticket, which didn't win, from the local supermarket, you couldn't go back to the for a refund.

Of course, but I think the cashier would say something if the OP asked for 130 lines of numbers (which would be putting £260 at risk.) Casinos prey on the vulnerable. If they really believed in the "please gamble responsibly" or whatever line they display, there would be a maximum amount they allow to be gambled online per period.

The casino should help more than the bank in my opinion, it's unfortunate that the reality will be the other way around (they probably would allow an unathorised overdraft if you didn't spend exactly £2.39, but you should consider their charges vs any other help available before doing so.) Won't look good on the credit file, but neither will a payday loan.

Casinos are a business much like most others and are there to make money pure and simple, If someone has a gambling issue that is not the casinos fault and not down to them to look out for it either as it should be about self exclusion or better still self control.

Many people visit casinos and gamble as enjoyment, I know lot's have issues with it to but I do not think it is right to blame the casino for this as in my view this is the whole blame someone else culture at its best.

The amount is not relevant. I just wanted to illustrate that you wouldn't expect to get a losing lottery ticket's cost refunded, so shouldn't expect any other gambling loss reimbursed.

    Hello all.

I've just joined this site and I was wondering if someone might be able to advise/help me in regards to a request Iam about to do with my bank.

Now first of all, I've had a bit of a gambling addiction, which I've now addressed after foolishly blowing £260 a few days ago, I did ask the gambling company if they could refund me the money but they said no, but I have now closed that account.
Anyway, because I spent that money, which ate up a big chunk of my overdraft , I've only got £2.39 to last me a month, and being an idiot I should be spending that £260 on bills and general shopping which I can not do now!
This has put me in a very bad place financially, I've asked my bank (which is lloyds) to see if they can either refund the money that I used( the recent £260) or if they can help me some other way.
Earlier this evening they said that I need to spend the remaining £2.39 that is available in my overdraft before they can help me.
Just wondering does anyone know what lloyds might do to help me out,if anything!

    Regards J

P.s sorry to any mods if I have posted this in the wrong section!

Clearly you don't understand the concept of gambling, lol. Would you tell the gambling company to keep any winnings you might of won when you put a stake on something, Seriously then come to a forum....

No bank would even refund a gambling transaction even if it was fraud they would be highly suspicious and carry out investigation before refunding any money!

Sorry but this thread is so laughable, If you didn't want to gamble you should have self excluded or timed out or setup daily or weekly limits.
